During her training she was commissioned into the United States Navy Dental Corps then completed a one-year hospital dental residency at San Diego Naval Medical Center. As a lieutenant and a lieutenant commander she traveled to many countries, was department head on a Navy warship and worked hard as a general dentist. The Navy selected Dr. Baldassari-Cruz for post-graduate training in endodontics, (specialty in root canal treatment). She completed a 2-year residency in endodontics at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. Dr. Baldassari-Cruz was promoted to full Commander and earned Board certification in Endodontics in 2001.
